A Few of My Favorite Authors

To celebrate my new blog, anyone can suggest a topic until the end of the month and we’ll talk about it here.  D.S. White gave the first topic. Name a few of your favorite authors. Why?

It’s a challenge because I have so many favorite authors. This list will not contain all of my favorite authors, but a few:

Maya Angelou, Peggy Eldridge Love  and Marc Lacy and so many other poets. Poets have a way of making words on the page sing.

Waking with EnemiesEric Jerome Dickey – his latest 2 books are why he’s my favorite.

Everybody Say AmenReShonda Tate Billingsley -   whether she’s writing mainstream fiction, Christian fiction or Young Adult books, her writing style puts her on my favorite’s list.

I can’t mention Christian fiction without adding Victoria Christopher Murray to my list. I just got this one in the mail and can’t wait to read it. A Novel About Four Women and Faith

Life without romance is BORING…some of my favorite romance authors are Francis Ray, Donna Hill, Gwynne Forster, Monica Jackson, and so many others. I’m hooked on Brenda Jackson’s books. In Bed With Her Boss (Kimani Romance)

  • Mystery & Suspense/Thriller
    •  Walter Mosley, Vincent Alexandria, John A. Wooden, Keith Lee Johnson, Tananarive Due, Brandon Massey, Tess Gerristen, etc….
  • Inspirational/Self-Help
    • T.D. Jakes, Michelle McKinney Hammond, Joyce Meyer, Carla J. Curtis etc….

Other writers who I like and have read every single one of their books include:  Kimberla Lawson Roby, Linda Dominique Grosvenor, Michelle McGriff, JD Robb (aka Nora Roberts), Jackie Collins, Cherlyn Michaels, E Lynn Harris, Michael Baisden,  etc.

I’m tired of typing, so this post has come to an end. This is only a snippet of who I enjoy reading. Stop back by from time to time and I’ll be posting other books by some of my favorite authors.

Who are some of your favorite authors and why?

The Brat Pack

http://miarroba.com/foros/ver.php?foroid=34033&temaid=3629575&pag=4   Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, etc are all part of the modern day Brat Pack and that’s not flattering.

All of these young ladies have been given golden opportunities to shine but have misused their fame for whatever reason. The “woe is me” act doesn’t impress.

I pray that they all get their lives together before its too late.

Don’t be an Option

Never Allow Someone To Be Your Priority, While Allowing Yourself To Be Their Option” ~ author unknown (thanks Kandie for the quote)

How many times have we given our all to someone to later regret it because as the quote above says, they were “our world” but they didn’t look at us in the same way? If I’m honest, I would have to say this has happened to me. It happened one too many times and once I woke up to this reality, I stopped the cycle. The older I get, the less tolerance I have for B.S.  If I feel like someone is trying to get over on me, I run and I don’t just jog, but I run as if I’m running towards an Olympic torch–fast.

Dating can be fun but it can also be a hassle when you don’t know where you stand with the person. I know some men aren’t too good about communicating, but I also know that if a man cares about a woman; she will be his priority, not a booty call, not a temporary cook or housekeeper or a “I’m not doing anything else, with anybody else, so what are you doing?” either.

Don’t be an Option, be a priority.

What’s Your Theme Song?

What’s Your Life Theme Song???

Thanks Tony Hanes for the idea for this post. Tony’s theme’s song is Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On?

Check out his blog to find out why: http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=59255914&blogID=291468508&indicate=1

My theme song varies. Right now it’s Golden by Jill Scott (lyric excerpt below):

I’m living my life like it’s golden
living my life like it’s golden
living my life like it’s golden

I’m taking my own freedom
puttin’ it in my song
singing loud and strong
proving all day long
I’m takin’ my freedom
puttin’ it in my stroll
I’ll be hop-steppin’ y’all
lettin’ the joy unfold

A Hot Ghetto Mess

Eurweb reports that BET has changed the name of the show Hot Ghetto Mess:

I’m not sure if you’ve ever been to the website (which from my understanding prompted the show)…but if you’ve been to the site or received some of the emails from family/friends, you would definately agree that it truly was a HOT GHETTO MESS.

The name might have changed, but the concept is still the same.

The Dawn Keye Diet

FYI…good info…I thought this Dawn Keye Diet might be something you may want to pass on to your friends who have tried other diets and they failed. The Dawn Keye Diet. This really works.

A friend of mine, Dawn Keye, who is a nurse talked to me about the Atkins Diet, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, & the latest of course, The South Beach Diet.    Since she is a nurse & has done a lot of study & research on dieting, I truly think she may have found the real answer to weight loss:
