Most Unforgettable Black Movie Love Scenes
Here’s a list of some movies with unforgettable love scenes – whether caught in the act or alluding to the act. Do you remember any of these? What are some other movies with unforgettable love scenes?
Jason’s Lyric - Lyric (Jada Pinkett Smith) & Jason (Allen Payne) – Very sizzling love scene.
How Stella Got Her Groove Back – The shower scene with Winston (Taye Diggs), how can you forget it? I don’t blame Stella (Angela Bassett) for falling for him.
Baby Boy – The scene with Joseph (Tyrese Gibson) & Yvette (Taraji P Henson) made me fall in love with baby boy.
Mo Better Blues with Denzel Washington; need I say more.
The Best Man – As the end credits roll, Quentin (Terrence Howard) and Shelby (Melissa De Sousa) are in bed together and can’t remember how they ended up there–priceless moment.
Boomerrang – Another unforgettable & hilarious love scene is when an unlikely pair hooks up – Marcus (Eddie Murphy) and Lady Eloise (Eartha Kitt). When the lights go out, Eddie’s character hollers “darker…darker…”
Love Jones – The scene that stands out the most is when Nina (Nia Long) is upstairs and Darius (Lorenz Tate) is downstairs and they both are feigning for each other.
I tried to recall 10, but could only come up with 7. What are some other Black movies with some unforgettable love scenes?

Disappearing (sp) Acts. They had many but the one in the kitchen between Franklin (Wesley Snipes) and Zora (Sanaa Lathan). Then there was Love & Basketball. The first time for both Quincy (Mike Epps) and Monica (Sanaa Lathan)
Disappearing Acts- First time I’ve ever seen anyone make love in a refrigerator!
Superfly- Priest (Ron O’Neal) and Georgia (Sheila Frazier) in the bathtub.
Hmm I would have to say DMX with Taral Hicks (Keshia) in Belly after the argument while he was in the shower scene whewwwwwwwww lawd!!!!
Disappearing Acts when Wesley attacked Sannaa at the refrigerator I was like well damn!!!! LOL
Love Jones- Nina (Nia Long) & Darius (Larenz Tate) going at it on the first date!!
Love and Basketball–
The first love scene between Omar and Sanaa
Monster’s Ball with Halle Berry and the white guy (sike! LOL)
Erica, Janice/Meachy–I don’t know how I could forget the refrigerator scene from Disappearing Acts.
Erica, Love & Basketball–those two had so much chemistry. I think they ended up dating for real after that movie.
Janice, I will have to rent a copy of Superfly so I can see that.
Meachy, I have Belly on DVD, so I’m going to go re-watch it.
Now Shaye, I’m with you reference Love & Basketball…but Monster’s Ball (LOL).
I remember all except Mo Better Blues and How Stella Got Her Groove Back.
The love scene @ the bar in Jason’s Lyric was insane. lol.
I like the love scene in Disappearing Acts, Love & Basketball, JoJo Dancer, Do The Right Thing, The Best Man (best friend cheated with the girlfriend reflection), and many more scenes.
Don, I’ll have to go back and watch JoJo Dancer and Do the Right Thing. The shower scene with Taye Diggs in How Stella Got Your Groove Back–unforgettable…but I can see why it wouldn’t be remembered by a man…lol
yes… all of these are def… classics… especially the love jones one
others are:
1. Booty Call… with Tommie Davidson and that Saran Wrap…lol
2. Baby Boy – When Ving Rhames was hopping around with the mom straddling him
3. Disappearing Acts when Sanaa and Wesley had the refigerator door open behind them… whew!
4. Dont be a menace to south central while drinking your juice in the hood…
they had 2 memorable scenes… the one with Marlon in the back of the truck and the shy chick turns into a monster
and the part when Tre is on the kitchen floor with that chick that has all them kids and she starts melting cheese on top of him and making a sundae and a whole bunch of crap…lol
That’s all I got for now
Eb…I’m LOL now remembering Tommie Davidson with the Saran Wrap. Girl, I didn’t know Ving Rhames was that fine until I saw him in the kitchen butt naked…lol.
Shelia, I always thought Wesley was “Da Man” in Mo Betta, even though I haven’t really liked him in anything since. Also, in the Soul Food Showtime series, several of the scenes between Terri and Damon were scorchers!
I do remember in the TV mini-series Queen: The Story of an American Family when Halle Berry and Dennis Haysbert got pretty passionate in their love scene. Although it’s not as popular as the other films mentioned I think it’s just as unforgettable and maybe even more so because of the time and setting.
Lori, that movie put Wesley on the radar for me too.
B Price, thanks for sharing about Queen. I have it on VHS. I will be going back to re-watch some of the movies mentioned.
I recall most of these and will have to review them again.
Super Fly – The bathtub scene, one of my very favorite (breakthrough)
Monster’s Ball – Hally at her best (in spite ot the B/W negative comments)
Lady Sings The Blues – When the camera flashed on Billy Dee’s face and he
spoke in that deep lucious voice, one could visualize
this man’s capabilities. I consider that moment in film
the powful, passionate, and provocative implied love
scene. Thinking about it gives me joy….
