As a writer, I’m thrilled that Precious based on Sapphire’s book Push got two Academy Awards on Oscars night for Monique (Best Supporting Actress) and Geoffrey Fletcher (Best Adaption of Screenplay).
Quotes from Monique’s acceptance speech:
“I would like to thank the academy for showing that it can be about the performance and not the politics,” said Mo’Nique.
She also went on to say, “I want to thank Miss Hattie McDaniel for enduring all that she had to so that I would not have to.”
Quote from Geoffrey Fletcher’s acceptance speech:
“This is for everybody who works on a dream every day. Precious boys and girls everywhere.”

Okay, last but not least, here are my top two picks for WORST DRESSED:
Did you watch last night Academy Awards? What are your thoughts on the show? Did the movies/people win that you wanted to win?
P.S. - I found out while watching the Oscars, my YA book Paper Thin: The Lip Gloss Chronicles Vol. 3 is a Dallas Morning News Best Seller. Thanks to all who purchased the book for their teenagers.

Zoe has interesting taste.
I also loved, loved, loved Sandra Bullock and Oprah’s dresses.
J Lo was the show stopper, but Queen was right up there with her.

I love their dresses too. It seems all the ladies associated with Precious had on blue last night–did you notice that?
Queen’s entire look was classy.
I said the same thing about them having on blue until I saw(oh gosh I can’t remember her name, she is married to Robin Thicke). I was in love with JLo’s dress.

Robin Thicke’s wife’s dress was so pretty. It was like a tangerine like color. She looks absolutely radiant being pregnant.

Thanks Mariam.
My vote for Best Dressed goes to Cameron Diaz; I thought she was just lovely. Honorable Mention would go to Mo’Nique. Notice she wore gardenias in her hair, the same as Hattie McDaniel did 70 years ago when accepting her Best Supporting Actress Oscar.
The worst dressed: The two Shelia chose, plus Sarah Jessica Parker.
Most of the women fell into the “they looked nice” category, their dresses didn’t work for me. This includes the much-ballyhooed Sandra Bullock, plus Penelope Cruz, Queen Latifah, Kate Winslet, Jennifer Lopez, Vera Farmiga, and on and on.

Bettye, I don’t know how I could forget Cameron Diaz. I think she was dressed better than I’ve ever seen her on the red carpet.
