What do you want to do different in 2013 that you didn’t do in 2012?
This is a great starting question. Last year I completed 3 major publishing contracts and began this year by taking a much needed break. Now it’s time to get back to work. This year I’d like to focus more on my craft and write the women’s fiction book I’ve wanted to write for the last five years.
What song would you use as the soundtrack of your life and why?
Keep Your Head to the Sky by Earth Wind & Fire is the song I’d use for my life’s soundtrack. The lyrics always give me strength, even when I don’t think I have any left. I hear the song, and all of the sudden I know I can keep going no matter how steep the climb.
What television show best describes your life and why?
I’m going to say, The Amazing Race. My life has been a grand adventure, with wonderful and interesting challenges. With some I’ve succeeded beyond my wildest dreams, in others, not so much. But either way, I keep going – enjoying every second.
What’s your favorite quote & why?
My favorite quote is a song lyric from the movie, Yentl. If you can fly – then soar! With all there is – why settle for just a piece of sky? I love the immense possibilities of this idea. The sky is endless, so, if you’re going to dream, don’t limit yourself. Dream BIG!
What character in your new book could you most relate to?
The character I could most relate to would have to be Shauna Banks. She’s strong-willed, focused, determined and just a little stubborn. She sets her sights on a goal, and then sees it through, no matter what the obstacle may be.
Tell readers about your latest release.
My latest release is entitled, Mine At Last. It’s the fifth book in the Coles Family Series. It’s set in Key West, Florida and features Dr. Dominik Coles and Shauna Banks. Both are medical professionals who are single-focused on helping people. They are determined to save the local Medical Center. In the process they find that love heals all wounds.
What’s next for you?
I am excited that the last Coles family series novel will be released this July. It’s entitled, The Thrill of You and features Mikhail Coles. I will also be continuing the Buchanans of Alaska series as e-books this year. The series is about an African American family who own and Oil and Energy Company in Alaska. I’ll also be continuing the Mamma Lou Matchmaker series and my young adult series. The sky’s the limit.
