Shirley Hailstock stops by the blog today to answer a few questions.

About Legacy: Erika St. James has seen both the best of life and the worst of it. Losing the only parent who loved her unconditionally when she was twelve, she fled to a man who became a dear friend and one who taught her to run a multinational corporation. However, he didn’t teach her to how to find good relationships — especially the man-woman kind. One his death-bed he tells her a secret, one that brings Michael Lawrence in to again upset her life.

Michael Lawrence, a traumatized attorney, has turned his back on the law and escaped to a solitary life in the Maryland mountains. Discovering he is heir to a fortune, he can only claim it if he returns to the city and works with Erika St. James, the beautiful new president of a multinational corporation. While his thoughts of her stray from the boardroom to the bedroom, someone else has plans to make him pay for past deeds. And Erika is the pawn he’ll use to force Michael into his crosshairs.

If they survive, will they be able to love again?

What do you want to do different in 2013 that you didn’t do in 2012?
I want to be more prolific and I want to have higher sales. I’ve received the rights back to several of my books and I’m offering them online through Amazon, B&N, Kobo, Smashwords, etc. I am also writing new works for online. I’m also branching out with books in other genres and mainstream. I have a couple of women’s fictions books in the works and I’d like to finish those. Plus I’ve done a couple of paranormals and I’d like to add more of those.

What song would you use as the soundtrack of your life and why?
I Will Survive is the song. I’ve survived a lot and I’m sure when I get the next lemon, I’ll try something else. If it means reinventing myself, I’ll do that.

What television show best describes your life and why?
Stargate-SG1 best describes my life. It’s an adventure. I love going on adventures. Often I will drive down a road just to see where it goes. Of course, now that I have GPS, a map on my phone and my iPad, I can just look it up. But it’s much more fun to see what’s on that road too. I know the SG-1 group went to strange new worlds, but for me new places to see are new worlds. Last year I drove from New Jersey to Kansas City, KS for college girl weekend. When it was over, I took a week to get home. If I saw a sign that looked interesting, I took the exit. Loving that so much I headed out again for Upstate New York to visit the Hudson Valley area. Everyday was an adventure, not to mention fodder for future novels.

What’s your favorite quote & why?
“Some people dream of doing great things…others stay awake and do them.” I believe I’m one of the do-ers. I have a lot of energy and I’m willing tackle many areas where people shy away from it. I don’t choose controversy, and if it can be avoided, I’ll probably take that road, but I won’t be walked on. I’ll just find another path.

What character in your new book could you most relate to?
My newest book has not been released yet. The book that I just put up online is LEGACY. I identify most with the main character, Erika. She’s a strong woman who has been through controversy, bad press and she’s presented with the terms of a will that are not what she expected. Taking the terms in stride, she embarks on an adventure to save a corporation and indirectly the life of the hero.

Tell readers about your latest release.
My latest book is electronic. The title is LEGACY and it’s the story of Erika’s St. James, estranged from her mother, who returns to the home where she grew up and inherits a fortune. The catch is she must share everything with traumatized lawyer who’s turned his back on the law and the corporate world.

What’s next for you?
I’ve just completed a novel for the Kimani imprint at Harlequin. The book is called WEDDINGS BY DIANA. It’s the story of a woman who owns a wedding consultant franchise. With no time for the bar scene, she’s convinced by her partner to try an online service. After exchanging e-mails with a man, who never thought anyone could meet his requirements, for several months they meet face-to-face only to discover they already know each other and there is no love between them. To make matters worse, he owns the building where her franchise and consulting offices are located and he wants the space for something else.
